Twisted Floral Shirt Redo

I had a few t-shirts I was about to give away, because they were just plain and I don't usually wear plain t-shirts. I'm more of a funky shirt kind of girl, lol.

As I was finishing my headbands and my daughter's shirt last night, I thought, why don't I add some flowers to those plain t-shirts to jazz them up a bit? I have a ton of scrap fabric (I think an entire 10 gallon tote full which probably cost me a total of $20 from the scrapbin at JoAnn fabrics).

You can see a tutorial for making the flowers here.

So I cut a bunch of strips and sat down on the couch to watch Law and Order and make flowers (see? double duty. Then I don't feel so guilty about watching tv.)

About 100 flowers later (seriously, not kidding - I made a surplus to use in the future on my daughter's dresses or other projects). I made those in about an hour, let them dry for about an hour, then tested layouts on my shirts. When I found a layout I liked, I began to glue the flowers down, one by one.

I LOVE the results! I'll take a picture in the other shirt later. And I know the headband in my pic above is a little much paired with the shirt. I forgot I had it in and was just using it to keep my hair out of my eyes when making the flowers ;) I really am happy with the turnout. A very simple, inexpensive and chic way to dress up a plain shirt and give it a new look.
