With the kids in bed and hubs watching tv, I settled down at my sewing machine to cut out some felt flowers and stitch them together. I also tried a new idea, to make felt roses. Fairly simple. Cut out a circle, then cut it (wavy-like) in a spiral. Then start wrapping it around itself into a rose shape. Dab hot glue on the end to hold it in place, put hot glue on the back, and then attach a felt circle to hold it all together. I also put a button or jewel in the center for decoration.
I made a slew of headbands and hairclips. (It was 12 clips for a dollar - can't beat that!) I just attached some of the flowers to them.
I attached some to the headbands as well.
I forgot to take a picture of the red rose with black headband separately - sorry. But I'm tired and don't want to go back and do it, lol.
The nice thing about the clips is that you can also use them to adorn your clothing, like this:
Aren't I so Vogue? Lol. I'm such a supermodel. I really need to work on my posing skills!
You can attach them to necklaces on the ribbon.
Or you can take a scrap length of knit leftover from an old project (in my case, an old t-shirt I used to make a hat), tie a knot at the end, and attach the flowers on there. It's nice and stretchy and has some bounce.
I LOVED making these - so exciting! And, I have two headbands left - so leave a comment about what you'd wear a felt floral headband for to be entered into a little raffle and I will pick two winners to receive headbands!
